My New Favorite Things....

Listening to Devynn "read" books to herself and/or her baby dolls.

Hearing Devynn sing. "Itsy-Bitsy Spider" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" seem to be her favorites...she has the melodies down but not so much with the words. Absolutely precious to hear though!! :)

My world is Priceless!!

Lumpy Head :(

Yesterday my mother-in-law came and took Andrew and Rylee miniature golfing. They "tied" because apparently my kids cheat so much that it's impossible to keep score. :) Afterwards they went to lunch at Souplantation. After a huge salad and two bowls of clam chowder, Andrew sat back in his seat, put his hands behind his head and said "It doesn't get any better than this."

Where does he come up with these things?!?!... :)

Unfortunately after having a great day, Andrew ended the night on a sour note. He decided to sit on the coffee table (something that he has been told a billion times not to do), and somehow managed to fall off backwards. He hit his head on the tile, and instantly got a HUGE bump. It was seriously like on "Tom and Jerry" when Tom would get hit with something and grow that enormous lump. After a good icing and some Tylenol, it was time for bed, which worried him because "how am I going to lay down?" I told him that since the lump was on the back of his head, then laying on his side would be the best choice. He seemed OK with that solution, but was still quite worried that he would roll over onto his back during the night. He somehow managed to survive the night. ;)
The lump was still a pretty good size this morning, and still pretty sensitive to the touch. Tonight, it seems to be a bit smaller and not quite as sensitive. I'm glad because my poor boy already has a lumpy head...he doesn't need to be adding to it! :)

Weekend Update

This past weekend was very quiet and mellow. My mom picked Andrew up on Friday and kept him until yesterday. Taking the boy out of the house makes such a HUGE difference in just about every aspect of our family!! I was ready for him to come home though...my boy drives me crazy but life is kinda boring without him!! :) And Jessie spent Saturday and Sunday nights with her friend Morgan. She graced us with her presence yesterday, but ended up leaving us again after dinner to spend the night with Ali (the kids are on Spring Break for the next two weeks.) I'm betting that she's still sleeping...probably only wakes up when she hears her phone beep with a new text. :)

On Saturday, Jess and I went to a bridal shower for Ryan's cousin Lisa. We had a nice time being with all the ladies. And man were we impressed with the home that it was at!! Oh, and I won a prize there! Yay me! ;)

While we were at the shower, Ryan was home with RyRy and Devynn. He took them to the park and to "White Lime" for some frozen yogurt. What a great daddy he is!! :) We're so blessed to have him in our lives!

On Sunday, we missed out on the chance to visit with baby Clay (and a bunch of other family too!). Clay and his family were out visiting in Palm Springs and had planned for all the California family to get together. Unfortunately, the kids started with the runny noses and coughs so we couldn't go...Clay can't be around all the germs. :( I was bummed because I had really been looking forward to seeing him and Devynn play together, but it certainly wasn't worth the risk to him. Hopefully we will be able to see them next time they make a trip out here.

Regressing??

So I started watching a 7 month old baby named Caleb a couple days a week. He's super sweet and reminds me of my Bubba when he was that age. At first, I wasn't too sure how Devynn was going to like having a baby around. I haven't had to watch him this week and Devynn has started asking me every morning "Where's Caleb?" She's even gone to the front door and opened it saying "Caleb." And she keeps telling us "I Caleb." Think she's missing him?....
So last night she fell and was crying upstairs. When I went to pick her up, she started saying she wanted her blanket, bottle and binky. Huh???!!! She never really took a binky and has been off the bottle for over a year, since she was 13 months old. So she went and found her blankie, and got one of her baby doll's bottles and binky, and put the binky in her mouth!!! So now I'm really not sure how she's feeling about having a baby around.

I'm thinking that I'm not going to start the whole potty training thing yet with her since she seems to be having some baby issues....

In other Devynn news...

Her new thing is to bring us naked Barbie or baby dolls and say "naked butt." She gets such a kick out of it. :) Such a little goofball!!

OUCH!!

My poor little Devynn fell on Saturday afternoon and cut her lip...we think she actually bit through it. Poor baby! So now she has an "owie" on the inside of her lip and one on the outside, just below her lip!! OUCH!!! I just hope that it doesn't leave a scar on her pretty little face. :(

First Love?

Yesterday, while my brother and sister-in-law were visiting, Andrew waited until I was alone and handed me a note. It read:

Mom,

Kaitlyn knows I love her. Christina told her.

My poor Bubba was so embarrassed. It was the first time that I have ever seen him blush! Apparently he had told Christina that he likes Kaitlyn (she threatened to get Mackenzie and chase after him if he didn't tell her...and Mackenzie likes him), and then she turned around and told her! Poor boy has the girls fighting over him already! :) So the drama begins....

March For Babies

On Sunday April 26th, Jessie and I (along with my sister-in-laws Erin, Kim and Cindy) will be participating in a 5k walk for the March of Dimes called "March For Babies." This will be our 4th year walking. We are trying to raise money to help prevent premature births and birth defects. If you're interested, please check out our personal pages and leave us a few words of encouragement or consider sponsoring us. We would greatly appreciate it! While there, you can also find other dates and locations if you are interested in participating yourself (or you can join us at Fashion Island in Newport Beach on the 26th!!). It's a wonderful event for a great cause, and we are proud to be a part of it.

Thank you!!!! :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Devynn!!

Devynn's new favorite words and sayings:

  • "gross"
  • "stupid" (Thanks big brother! :/ )
  • "mine" (of course, she's 2!)
  • "fun" (she says this one a lot since she seems to think that everything is fun.)
  • "RyRy Belle" (usually when she's yelling to find her...too cute!)
  • "Iwangobacknplay." (translates to "I want to go out back and play." She somehow manages to say it as one long word. Very cute.)

And my personal favorite.....

  • "I happy." (I love it when she says this...it's just too sweet!)

Devynn's newest fear:

  • The jeep and princess car Power Wheels (we FINALLY found the chargers to recharge their batteries and she is NOT liking having them be able to move and make noise.) It is kinda comical to watch, though. (Aren't I such an awful parent?!)

A Whole New Light :)

So, Andrew and Rylee spent the weekend at Papa Dave's house. What a difference taking 50% of our children out of the house makes! It was such a nice, relaxing, mellow, quiet time for us. We were completely amazed at how different Devynn was without the other kids to compete with. She was so happy and giggly and silly and a little bit strange in a funny way. Ryan and I have been saying for a long time now that if we had had Devynn first, then she would be an only child because she is such a crybaby and is very exhausting. But after this weekend, I don't know if we can say that anymore! Maybe her only problem is that she was born last instead of first. All I know is that I saw my sweet little Pookie in a whole new light this weekend, and I loved it! I'm just hoping that some of her happy silliness sticks around for awhile now that the other kids are home. :)
